Bold | Futuristic | Constructive

To Channel my ideas and values through a futuristic vibe, I create unique and stylized designs while putting myself in others’ shoes.

ProtoMarine#1 Laneway House Project - OakShel

Interior Design | Architecture Design | Experiential Design

Objective: Design laneway houses that reimagine the potential of Vancouver’s urban fabric by integrating nonresidential programs to create dynamic, mixed-use corridors.

Explore how these often-overlooked spaces can evolve into vibrant community hubs, balancing residential living with broader neighborhood engagement

The goal of this project is to design innovative proposals for laneway houses that accommodate a minimum of 2 residents. Furthermore, I am envisioning possibilities for the integration of nonresidential programs with the intent of creating mixed-use corridors along Vancouver’s network of laneways.

In the ProtoMarine Collection, I will focus on giving users or visitors to feel protected and warm in a specific stylized space age aesthetic of an object, I want users to feel spacious but accommodated, which is the goal of this projects and other upcoming creations in the ProtoMarine Collections.

Considering foreseeable users’ needs and vast user demographics, I have planned out a 24-hour washroom program. Especially after my research, I discovered the mapping of 24-hour washrooms covers only downtown among the entire Metro Vancouver Area.

I also included a 24-hour open public space, including seating areas, vending machines, trash disposals, and a water dispenser alongside the washroom, enhancing the public service programming but also making profits.

ProtoMarine#2 Parklet - Nautilus

Interior Design | Architecture Design | Experiential Design

Objective: Design a small Architectural Public Space: a Parklet.

Review, apply, and strengthen skills with 3D modelling and 2D drawing tools, both in the design development and communication processes, while exploring design principles and spatial awareness concepts.

Submerge into the deep sea tranquility, Nautilus is the parklet that fuses a modern-techy vibe with the elegancy of deep sea shell creatures, to welcome visitors to immerse themselves in a relaxing environment among the bustling city.

The design elements are mostly curves and rounded shapes to create a sense of uniqueness in terms of visuals. It is uniquely identified by the swing chair, imagine after a long day of work, just chilling in the swing chair here?

In the original plan, I wanted to accomodate users including students, who use it as a study and chill area, bikers who park their bikes and relax, and pedestrians who want a place to sit and rest. I also want to create a smoking area for smokers as they can feel free to smoke without affecting others. In later plans, I have decided to converge the programming into a isolated sitting platform and shaped like a semi-enclosed chamber area.

The completed Nautilus plays a role in the community as a landmark and a place to stick round, offering convenience to the neighborhood and attracting people for outdoor activities.

Luminous Object Project - Luminoucity

Product Design | Experiential Design | Interior Decoration

Objective: Design, Document, and Fabricate a small Luminous Object, while exploring the relationship between Narrative, Form, Materiality, and Value— from concept to fabrication.

The style inspiration of my luminous object is from the genre cyberpunk.

  • Gigantic hologram dominating the skyline, towering in the city shouting for attention. Often shown as a symbol of excessive capitalism and corporations’ manipulation of society and economy.

  • Extreme usage of light and electricity, brightening up the city even at night usually shown in florescent cold color. Neon color is used heavily

  1. The original plan is to build a whole city scape/structure complex as the shell of the luminous object.

  2. It is later simplified to create only a city silhouette using laser-cutting due to various resource limitations.

  3. It is later further simplified to a more condenced and simplified version to foster fabrication efficiency

In my luminous object creation, I presented 2 forms of light: Diffused light and projected light. I tried my best to used the most of light from one single light source. By accomplishing this project, I also satisfied one of my goal in this project. By emulating the aesthetic essence of cyberpunk, I am also countering the cruel nature in cyberpunk ideology of being unsustainable and dystopian. In other words, an alternative way to tell the stories inside cyberpunk: humanity, reality, and free-wills.

Chocolate Packaging - NEURO

Product Design | Graphic Design | Packaging

Objective: Design the front panel of the packaging for 4 different flavors and types of chocolate and explore the possibilities of color and its visual and emotional impact to communicate a message.

Playhouse Project - Space Age Daydream

Product Design | Interior Design | Architecture Design

Objective: Through the design of a small playhouse, integrate learning outcomes that include applying key Design Elements & Principles, considerations around the human body in space, presenting and communication 3D ideas, and core software skills.
