Objective: Design and build an exhibit for Virtual Reality, bring the project from concept to reality, and hone 3D technology skills to support the design. Create an immersive exhibit demonstrating the ideas, techniques and tools discussed throughout the course.

Luminous Object

Fabrication | Orthographic Plans | Sustainability

Objective: Design, Document, and Fabricate a small Luminous Object, while exploring the relationship between Narrative, Form, Materiality, and Value— from concept to fabrication.

  • Practicing communications and multiple revisions and iterations with a fabricator

  • Exploring materiality and a light’s relationship to different materials

  • Addressing a need, curate a brief, and iterate solutions for yourself as the client

Objective: Design a 4-page magazine considering how text and design conveys meaning; employing text hierarchies as a way to navigate; selecting appropriate typeface pairings; creating effective image and text combinations; and creating visual continuity from
page to page.

The Things That Never Were Exhibit

Objective: Based on the Encyclopedia of The Things That Never Were by Michael Page and Robert Ingpen, design a brand and environmental graphics for an exhibit to provide visitors with a layered experience through branding and sense of place to be enhanced by emotional triggers and touchpoints within the spatial experience.

Objective: Create new layers of a 2D graphic story by adding a 3D, interactive virtual experience through augmented reality. 

Type Brochure and Poster

Objective: Design and layout a brochure that features one of five historically significant typefaces. One side of the brochure highlights historical content while the other side was a poster. The key is for the brochure to express the character and personality of the typeface in addition to the basic information.
