Multidisciplinary Designer
Spa Day
Interiors | Architecture | Furnishing
Objective: Create a 3D model of an 8’x12’ floor with 4.5” thick 12’ high walls mini salon/barbershop based on Japanese, Modernist, 50’s Scandinavian, California, Boho or Hipster themes.
For this mini salon/barbershop project, I drew inspiration from contemporary Japanese design, aiming to create a beautiful and inviting atmosphere. I incorporated minimalist principles, natural materials, and clean lines to create a comfortable and relaxed space. I included Japanese pop art pieces to add a vibrant and playful touch.
Donut Shop
Interiors | Architecture | Model Making
Objective: Develop the functional space for a Donut shop using the intersections of two shipping containers. Create floor plans and elevations to then create a scale model.
By working with the unique structure of the two shipping containers, I aimed to design a compact yet inviting environment that embraces natural light.
Luminous Object
Materials | Lighting | Fabrication
Objective: Design, Document, and Fabricate a small Luminous Object, while exploring the relationship between Narrative, Form, Materiality, and Value— from concept to fabrication.
Parklet
Interiors | Architecture | 3D Modelling
Objective: Design a small Architectural Public Space: a Parklet. Review, apply, and strengthen skills with 3D modelling and 2D drawing tools, both in the design development and communication processes, while exploring design principles and spatial awareness concepts.
Inspired by the majestic mountains of British Columbia, the Tunturi Parklet embodies a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. Through the design, I wanted to capture the essence of nature's tranquility, with shapes that echo the silhouettes of mountain ranges and seating that mirrors their reflection on water. The plants symbolize the dense forests, creating a harmonious blend of greenery and wood.
Drawing inspiration from Scandinavian design, the parklet features natural woods that enhance its calming ambiance. The name 'Tunturi,' came from the Finnish word for mountains in Lapland.
Pasta Packaging
Branding | Packaging | Graphic Design
Objective: Design a brand and packaging to introduce a new line of locally produced organic products, targeted at a young and urban audience.
For this project, I designed the brand and packaging for "Honestly Good Pasta&co”. I focused on creating a colourful and vibrant look, using abstract patterns and simple design elements. My goal was to convey the freshness and quality of the organic products while keeping the brand identity honest, simple and modern.
Laneway House
Interiors | Architecture | Model Building
Objective: Design laneway houses that reimagine the potential of Vancouver’s urban fabric by integrating nonresidential programs to create dynamic, mixed-use corridors. Explore how these often-overlooked spaces can evolve into vibrant community hubs, balancing residential living with broader neighbourhood engagement.
Inspired by my experiences growing up in Finland, the Laneway House design integrates the tradition of the sauna, a staple of Finnish life. The nonresidential space features a communal sauna, inviting people to enjoy its warmth and relaxation. The residential interior showcases an open-concept layout and a loft, creating a spacious and airy environment that fosters a sense of community and comfort.
Cook Book
Graphic Design | Layout | Typography
Through collaborative brainstorming, we embarked on an exciting journey to design a cookbook inspired by the French Revolution. Embracing a punk aesthetic, we combined eclectic typefaces with rugged, bold imagery, juxtaposed against the delicate elegance of French desserts and ornamental elements. We broke all the rules, embracing the chaotic energy that defines this unique cookbook.
Objective: Design a cookbook, ensuring its recipes, graphics, and the other ancillary information, work together as part of a coherent concept, that brings the story, the foods, and the dishes to life, while considering the hierarchy of the typography, professional typesetting of the main text, the connection between text and images, and the continuity of all pages.
